Ultrafiltration (UF) is a membrane separation technology which can purify and separate the solution. The ultrafiltration membrane system is a solution separation device which takes the ultrafiltration membrane as the filtration medium and the pressure difference on both sides of the membrane as the driving force. The ultrafiltration membrane only allows the solvent (such as water molecules), inorganic salts and small molecular organics in the solution to pass through, and intercepts the suspension, colloid, protein, microorganism and other macromolecular substances in the solution, so as to achieve the purpose of purification or separation.

Ultrafiltration is a membrane separation process with screening as the separation principle and pressure as the driving force. The filtration accuracy is in the range of 0.005-0.01 μ m, which can effectively remove particles, colloids, bacteria, heat sources and high molecular organic substances in water. It can be widely used in the separation, concentration and purification of substances. There is no phase transformation in the ultrafiltration process, and the operation at room temperature is particularly suitable for the separation of heat sensitive substances. It has good temperature, acid and alkali resistance and oxidation resistance. It can be used continuously for a long time under the condition of 60 ℃ and pH 2-11.

The ultrafiltration membrane can be divided into plate and frame type (plate type), hollow fiber type, nano membrane surface ultrafiltration membrane, tube type, roll type and other structures according to the structure type. Among them, hollow fiber ultrafiltration membrane is a more mature and advanced form of ultrafiltration technology. The outer diameter of the hollow fiber is 0.4-2.0mm, the inner diameter is 0.3-1.4mm. The wall of the hollow fiber tube is covered with micropores. The pore diameter is expressed by the molecular weight of the material that can be intercepted, and the intercepted molecular weight can reach thousands to hundreds of thousands. The raw water flows in the outer or inner cavity of the hollow fiber under pressure, forming the outer and inner pressure hollow ultrafiltration membranes respectively. Ultrafiltration is a dynamic filtration process. The entrapped substances can be removed with the concentrate without blocking the membrane surface, and can be operated continuously for a long time.

◆ mineral water: in the manufacturing of mineral water, ultrafiltration technology is applied.
